On May 8 the Mayoress of Wirral, Anne Watt, visited St James' church to meet Janet Young and to view her display of paintings in the church's new exhibition area. Mrs Watt had briefly seen the paintings when she and the Mayor came to the performance of Godspell a few weeks earlier, and she expressed her wish to come back for a more in-depth viewing and to meet Janet. The Mayoress spent an hour in church, enjoying a light lunch organised by Janet's friend Ann Barlow, chatting with her and having a good look at the paintings, which she admired. It was a lovely occasion and a fitting recognition of Janet's talents.
